Baseball
Yankee pitcher Cory Lidle was killed along with his flight instructor when the plane he was flying crashed into a hi-rise Manhattan apartment. He was 34 years old.

Yankee manager Joe Torre will return for his twelfth season as manager. After losing the first round of the playoffs, many New York tabloids announced that George Steinbrenner was going to fire Torre and hire Lou Pinella.

Seibu Lions ace Daisuke Matsuzaka will be put through the posting system so that he can play in the MLB next season. He is considered one of the best pitchers in Japan and is just 26.

Football
Kansas City running back Larry Johnson injured his neck when tackled on a 78 yard reception in the fourth quarter. Johnson will not miss any time. Kansas City kicked a field goal at the end of the drive to take the lead for good.

Peyton Manning threw a touchdown pass to Reggie Wayne with 5 minutes left in the game on Sunday to give Indianapolis its fifth win of the season. Indianapolis, along with Chicago, is the two undefeated teams in the NFL.

Jacksonville shut out the New York Jets 41-0 on Sunday, scoring in every quarter.
Donovan McNabb led the Eagles to a 38-24 win over the Cowboys on Sunday, spoiling Terrell Owens return to Philadelphia. Cowboy quarterback Drew Bledsoe was not on his game as he threw three interceptions.

Basketball
Andrew Bogut of Milwaukee will miss the start of the season with an injured leg.
The Pacers Stephen Jackson was charged with a felony for his role in an altercation at a nightclub that resulted with a man trying to run him over and Jackson firing five shots into the air. One man has been charged in connection to the fight.

Miscellaneous
The Chicago White Sox, as a part of a promotion with 7-Eleven will start all their weeknight home games at 7:11 for the next three year.
