Are Brandeis students unattractive and awkward?

Weve all heard the complaints before. Brandeis students are ugly. According to Fiskes Guide to Colleges 2005 edition, students wear beer goggles (i.e., get drunk) in order to coax themselves into hooking up with less than attractive members of the opposite sex. Then theres the old saying that nine out of ten Jewish girls are pretty and the tenth goes to Brandeis. Some girls claim that the saying works in reverse, as well.

Brandeis, the University on a Hill

Many of us at Brandeis enjoy the observation point in front of Usen Castle adjacent to the old Courtyard Bell. On a clear evening, barring any interference of high branches, one has a gorgeous view of the Boston skyline. We are not the first to enjoy this personal link between our small enclave and our nearby city. The area known as Boston Rock (or Boston Rock Hill) is the point from which John Winthrop surveyed the area in 1632 and is also the highest point of elevation west of the city on the perimeter of the metropolitan area. While sites at Prospect Hill Park (Waltham Highlands, about three miles North of Brandeis) and Blue Hills Park (Milton, MA) are respectively regarded as the second and first highest points of elevation in Eastern Massachusetts, Boston Rock Hill is the closest to Boston.

John W. Dean III, former White House Counsel to President Richard Nixon who was involved in the Watergate scandal that led to Nixons resignation, gave the inaugural lecture for the Elaine and Gerald Schuster Institute for Investigative Journalism Tuesday night to a standing room only crowd at the Faculty Club.

F-board reallocates BTV funding

The Union Finance Board approved of a budget reallocation requested by the campus television station BTV, sources say. Representatives from the television station, which has not produced original programming since gaining an entirely first-year executive board in 2006, said they believed the reallocation will help them transition from a channel-based paradigm to an online format.

Union Secretary resigns over E-board policies

Union Secretary Michael Goldman 08 resigned last night, citing irreconcilable differences with the Executive Board and its policies regarding arming campus police and the apparent illegality of the Racial Minority Senator position, sources say. This resignation comes after a Union censure and several attempts at impeachment following his disclosure of voting information during the Senator elections on Sept. 17.

Politics professor accused of making racist remarks

Professor Donald Hindley (POL) was charged with violating the Universitys Non-Discrimination and Harassment Policy for statements made in his classes, sources say. Based on documents forwarded via e-mail, Hindley, who has taught at Brandeis for 46 years, will have to undergo University-funded anti-discrimination training and have a monitor in his classes.

I, as Provost, am extremely concerned for the welfare of the Universitys studentsthe University will not tolerate inappropriate, racial and discriminatory conduct by members of its faculty, said a letter allegedly written by Provost Marty Krauss, which was scanned in its entirety and sent via e-mail by Hindley to the Concerned e-mail listserve.

The Gold Standard: Irreconcilable differences

If youre not in the fifty-odd member Student Union or on the editorial board of The Hoot or the Justice, you probably couldnt care less about student government. For this, I commend you. Its actually worse than you know.
